At thirty-seven and pregnant, Heather had run out of places to go. In her childhood, Heather experienced domestic violence. She thought she had escaped her past until she unexpectedly got pregnant. The pattern of domestic violence started in her childhood. Even in her first home, she and her mom were violently abused. As she grew older, Heather often ran away from the foster homes, which were supposed to provide help for her.
So when Heather found herself pregnant, there was no one she could turn to. She felt alone, unwanted, unprotected, and afraid.
Genesis welcomes women like Heather with open arms. Genesis helps and protects women like Heather all the time. While living at the Genesis House she completed all pregnancy and parenting classes and earned countless goods for her child. She has since completed classes at Sanford Brown, and is now employed as a medical assistant. She has also reunited with her daughter’s birth father. Because of Genesis, Heather has been able to create a new beginning for her family.
