Breastfeeding Class
Helps prepare mothers (and fathers) for breastfeeding success. Topics include but are not limited to:
- Breastfeeding benefits and awareness
- Getting “enough” breastmilk
- Proper positioning and latch-on
- Creating a breastfeeding plan
- Common concerns
- Maternal nutrition and medications
- Myths of breastfeeding
- Support system
- Resources
First Aid Class
Learn to respond to common first aid emergencies, including burns; cuts; head injuries and poisonings, how to use Epi-Pen auto injector as well as an asthma inhaler, and more. Pediatric option available.
Newborn Care Classes
Free newborn care classes explore the first moments and weeks with your baby. Topics include baby care basics, health and safety, soothing the crying infant and discovering the newborn’s remarkable traits.
Nutrition Classes
Six-class series, which includes topics such as food safety, menu planning, shopping and more. Each class includes food preparation and sampling.
Potty Training Class
Learn how to teach your child to use the toilet, including recognizing signs of readiness and handling setbacks. This class is held on the first floor at the Genesis Center.
Preparing for Birth/Lamaze
Childbirth classes for women at least 31 weeks pregnant. Class includes Lamaze technique from a doula’s perspective.
Includes: Exercises, relaxation, breathing, and what to do in the labor room. Support persons are encouraged, but not required, to attend.
One on One Class
An opportunity for students to take one on one classes for those with scheduling conflicts or those who would like more personalized instruction.
